Hiraeth is a Welsh word commonly meaning 'homesickness' or a deep longing for home. Many claim it cannot be directly translated and means much more than solely missing something - to some, it implies the meaning of missing a time, an era, or place that one cannot return to.
In an attempt to preserve the memory of one of my childhood homes where I lived the longest, and the fleeting memories of a nomadic military childhood, objects from my past are combined with my distorted thoughts of the nine homes I have lived in so far. Hiraeth is specifically dedicated to the house I spent 2005-2011 growing up in, in Havertown, Pennsylvania.
For my brother, mom and dad, and our dog, Max.
